A bright, translucent cherry/carmine colour, fading to a narrow rim. The nose has floral scents (hints of violet and lily), mingled with crystallised cherry and redcurrant fruits, with plenty of garrigue and savoury/meaty nuances and hints of tar and eau de vie. There are also some delightfully mahogany/woody/earthy notes, although this wine is not oak-aged. The palate is generous in both fruit and savoury, with high-toned red and black fruits, meat and garrigue flavours, held together with fine, ripe, tea-like tannins. There's also an intriguing touch of saline minerality, nicely off-set by a core of tangy, cherry kernel acidity, with a long, gently warming finish. A beautifully balanced and really quite complex wine, this is lovely now, but will evolve and age for at least another 5 to 8 years, perhaps more. Certified biodynamic by AB and Demeter. |
