A pale-ish, translucent cherry/blood red colour. The nose offers crystallised red berry and cherry fruits and a mélange of herbs, spices, damp earth and eau de vie, with a subtle creaminess. The palate is packed with raspberry/cherry fruit and spice flavours, together with a subtle meaty/savouriness, fine, ripe tannins and ample acidity, all of which combine in a really rather elegant wine. The finish is long, dry and gently warming. Who needs oak, when the raw materials and the level of winemaking skill is as good as this. Another delicious wine, and yet another that will age for a good few years - if you can resist.
