From the highest vineyards in Faugères (320m) and grown on schist soil, with yields of just 20 hl/ha. This is a delightfully perfumed wine - rounded and ripe, almost sweet-smelling, with masses of bramble, raspberry and redcurrant fruits, garrigue herbs, black pepper and subtle notes of blackcurrant leaf and dried orange peel. The palate is quite dense and expansive, with spiced red and black fruits, savoury/herby notes, ripe tannins and juicy, cherry skin acidity - young, but already getting into it's stride. With time - and especially on day 2 - it develops more weight and power, with additional notes of polished wood, undergrowth, leather and incense on the nose and a slightly more savoury/meaty palate. All of which suggests this wine - which is already a delight to drink - has plenty of evolution ahead of it. Organic.
