Bright, limpid cherry red in colour, with aromas of red cherry and summer berry fruits, subtle notes of spices, herbs, sous bois and desiccated orange peel and even some gentle savoury/meaty nuances. Relatively soft on the palate, approachable and full of raspberry and redcurrant fruit flavours. The ripe, gently rustic tannins are countered by a lightly creamy texture, with bags of acidity and a long-ish sweet-sour finish. Cinsault is often considered to be one of the lesser grape varieties of the Languedoc, but this is another lovely example, and a testament to what it is capable of (in this case, blended with Carignan and a splash of Merlot), when made by a skilled winemaker. Delicious! |
