Although this is a similar blend to its red counterpart, this is actually a vin de pressurage - i.e. proper rosé, rather than simply the free-run juice of the red wine-making process. A limpid, pale-to-medium salmon pink colour, with orange glints. The nose offers a delightful array of red summer fruit aromas, with subtle floral and garrigue herb notes and a hint of cream. The palate is medium/full, without being too rich, with masses of redcurrant, strawberry and raspberry flavours and a hint of peppery spice. The texture is gently creamy, yet tight and focused, with a modicum of grape skin tannin and bags of juicy cherry skin acidity. The finish is long and spicy. Top class wine, and more than a match for much more expensive Provence rosés. An absolute bargain! |
