A bright, limpid cherry red colour at the core, leading to a narrow, gently bricking rim. The nose offers a delightfully complex array of red berry and cherry fruit and herb/spice aromas and a definite whiff of blueberry, accompanied by subtle notes of desiccated orange peel, sandalwood, polished leather and forest floor. And for a Pinot grown in the warm, arid climate of the Montagne d'Alaric area of Corbières, it is remarkably restrained and again really quite complex. That enticing blueberry note is still there on the palate, along with flavours of raspberry, redcurrant, soft citrus and a hint of spice/cardamom, all of which are wrapped around a core of ripe, gently rustic tannins and wonderfully mouth-watering cherry kernel acidity - which just keeps you coming back for another sip. The finish is long, juicy, and at the same time both cool/minty and warm/spicy. It's neither Burgundy (not subtle enough) nor New World (too subtle). But it is demonstrably Pinot Noir - and demonstrably Languedoc - and is therefore a beautifully crafted and really delicious wine!
