Medium cherry/blood red core, leading to a narrow rim. A very expressive nose of red fruits, exotic spices, garrigue herbs, new leather, damp earth and wood smoke. The palate is medium-rich and again very expressive, with predominantly red fruit flavours - notably black cherry, redcurrant and raspberry - with hints of bramble, cassis and myriad tertiary flavours including black olive and garrigue herbs, with further notes of black pepper and curry spices. Quite rich and spicy, with ample but fine tannins and plenty of orangey acidity, making for a sweet-sour wine of real depth and length. Another superb new addition to the Terre des Chardons range, which should age and improve nicely, even though it is already delicious (tasted June 2021). Certified organic and biodynamic. |
